The mission of the Ponchatoula Education Foundation (PEF) is to promote educational excellence in the Ponchatoula Area School System by providing financial support and other assistance to students, teachers, and administrators. In 2007, a group of concerned citizens, community leaders, and school system personnel established the Ponchatoula Education Foundation. PEF is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization, which is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)3 corporation. PEF is governed by a volunteer board of directors and administered by a part-time executive director. PEF’s board of directors consists of individuals who serve without compensation and who have a strong commitment to the mission of the Ponchatoula Education Foundation. The board meets quarterly to determine funding allocations, review operating procedures and policies, as well as to plan and develop fund-raising activities. PEF’s executive director is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the foundation, including accounting and record keeping, grant administration and fundraising. The Ponchatoula Education Foundation is dedicated to providing financial assistance to students, teachers, and administrators in the Ponchatoula Area School System to help them meet the challenges of a 21st century education. PEF provides grants to teachers to fund innovative projects and educational materials, and scholarships to graduating high school seniors to help them pursue a college education. PEF also provides support to administrators to implement programs that enhance the quality of education in the Ponchatoula Area School System. The Ponchatoula Education Foundation is committed to making a positive impact on the educational opportunities and outcomes of the students in the Ponchatoula Area School System.
